Weekly Lore – The Noma

“In all that I have seen, from the far reaches of the Angol Sea to the horrors of the Rimino Wastes, I have never seen a place so dedicated to the death of men as that which the soldiers call the Noma. It is as if the very land itself seeks to strike out at anyone who dares tread upon it.”

– Wallace Braken, Redditus Magnus Chronicler

At the very southern portion of the Northern Territories and  connecting to the Sea of Souls is an area of several thousand square miles called the Noma. Once, the Noma was the only barrier keeping the Northern Territories and the Outlands separate, though the Wall now fulfills that role.

Much like the Badlands, the Noma is a land rendered inhospitable by radiation, poisonous gasses, and frequent tectonic activity. What creatures do manage to survive here are dangerous and contaminated, and the UNA forces deployed at the Wall have a kill on sight order for any movement in the Noma that is not one of their own.

Of course, like anywhere in Praeter, there are still people here. Scavengers and smugglers who make runs through the toxic atmosphere with often little more than a heavy duster and surplus gas mask. The husks of UNA and Outlander vehicles and battalions lost to the harsh conditions makes a tempting prize for the desperate or foolish.
